September and October Active Flag News

Children from Junior Infants to 6th class visited Kennedy Park and Tintern Abbey as part of National Tree Week. Children participated in a tour of the park where they learned about the trees and abbey. The children had a great day of exploring and walking.

Children participated in a walking parade for Halloween. Children showcased their scary and magical costumes. They finished the evening with a Fancy Dress Disco organised by the Parents Council.

Children from 4th class participated in the FAI Futsal in St Joseph’s Community Centre, Wexford Town.

November’s Active Flag News

The Active Schools Committee met for their first meeting on Tuesday 21st November. We have pupils from 2nd to 6th class involved in the committee. As part of their application, children had to come up with fun and new initiatives to introduce within the school. We look forward to trying out and testing these new ideas over the coming months.

December’s Active Flag News

The Active School Committee organised a slogan competition in all the classes. Congratulations  to all the children who entered the competition.

January and February’s Active Flag News

The children have been enjoying playing with the Hula Hoops from Juniors to 3rd class. While the older children have been playing with basketballs at break-time. 

The Active Schools Committee met and decided to organise a running initiative. They decided we are going to run to Poland. It is 2242km away.  We will get this under way at the beginning of March. All the different classes will be participated.  Keep an eye out how weget on over the coming weeks,

Miss Bolgers Senior and 1st Class won the Active Class of the Month for February. Well done to all the children. 

We have started to make plans for our first ever Active Schools Week. We are all looking forward to be as active as we possibly can. It takes place from the 23rd of April to the 27th. Keep an eye out for our Active Schools Timetable in the coming weeks. 

March Active Flag News

Preparations are well under way for our First Active Schools Week. The Active Schools Committee are busy organising events in the school. 

New skipping ropes were purchased from Mark at SkipnRope. The children are using the skipping ropes along with the hula hoops at break time.

The children have been busy running to Poland. We ran 167.5km in our first week. Fitness Fridays are in full swing every Friday morning from 9.10 – 9.30.

April Active Flag News

Active Schools Week was a great success in the school. We had a fun filled week from start to finish. The children would love to have Active Schools Week every week. Check out the Active Schools Week section to see how we got on. 

Children are continuing with their laps to Poland. We are making great progress.  We have ran over 1000km now. 

May Active Flag News

Miss Meyler is busy preparing the Active Schools Form. We expect a visit from the Active Schools Flag Team in the coming weeks. 

On Tuesday 29th of May we had an Accreditation Visit from the Active Schools. Tadhg Foran came to visit and look at all the amazing work that was going on in the school. 

He gave us the great news that we have been awarded our first Active Schools Flag.

We will have a Flag Raising Ceremony in the coming weeks.
