We held a very successful Sports Day last week. All classes were involved in many activities throughout the day. The 6th class challenged the staff to a game of rounders and emerged victorious. A highlight of the day was the arrival of Wexford hurlers David Redmond and Shaun Murphy. The children enjoyed a game of hurling and had the opportunity to get hurls and jerseys signed.

Shaun and David spoke very encouraging words to the children and Shaun then raised the Green Flag with committee members Ann Rossiter and Emma Wickham. David, then raised the Junior Entrepreneur Flag with our National Trampolining Champion, Olivia Breen. The musicians entertained those gathered with The Boys of Wexford while 4th Class pupils Adam O’Brien, Bradley Curtis, Megan Moran and Aideen Harpur performed songs and poems that they had written. A number of our enthusiastic hurlers then performed the song “When I Grow Up I’m Gonna Play County”.

We finished the celebration with everyone singing Amhrán na bhFiann.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day. We thank David and Shaun for giving of their time and sharing their enthusiasm with us.
